Sharks make qualifying offer to Clifton Park's Petrecki
More news from the San Jose Sharks involving a Capital Region hockey player.
Defenseman and Clifton Park native Nick Petrecki was issued a qualifying offer by the Sharks on Tuesday. That means the team retains its negotiating rights with Petrecki.
Petrecki completed his third season in the organization. He has played in 200 games for the AHL's Worcester Sharks and has six goals and 31 assists along with 342 penalty minutes.
Petrecki played in his first NHL game this past season. He had 11:58 of ice time in the Sharks' 3-2 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 29.
Earlier Tuesday, the Sharks re-signed former Union goalie Troy Grosenick to a two-year contract.
