St. Lawrence forward Flanagan out after having appendix removed
St. Lawrence won't have one of its top players when the Saints visit the Capital Region for the final two games of the ECAC Hockey regular season.
The Watertown Daily Times reported that Saints senior forward Kyle Flanagan had his appendix removed on Tuesday. Saints coach Greg Carvel told Watertown Daily Times writer and former Troy Record reporter Chris FitzGerald that Flanagan could be out a week, or maybe longer.
"We're hoping that we get a [playoff] bye and give Kyle enough time to recover." Carvel said.
Flanagan is the Saints' second-leading scorer with 14 goals and 28 assists. In 130 career games, the 24-year-old Canton native has 45 goals and 97 assists.
The Saints face Union on Friday at Messa Rink, and then play RPI at Houston Field House on Saturday. St. Lawrence is in third place, a point behind second-place RPI. The Saints have a two-point lead over sixth-place Union.
The top four teams receive and ECACH tournament first-round bye.
