NFL Picks, Week 16
Every year I participate in a Pigskin Pick ’em group organized by an obnoxious friend of mine from high school who spends his Sundays doing nothing but watching NFL football. I spend very little time watching football, and yet I continue to dream of beating him. And so every week I dutifully make my picks.
As always, the winning team is in caps.
MIAMI DOLPHINS at Buffalo Bills — The Miami Dolphins are surging! Pick against them at your peril!
Minnesota Vikings at CINCINNATI BENGALS — The Bengals let me down last week. But I’m betting they’ll come through this week, against the hapless Vikings.
Cleveland Browns at NEW YORK JETS — Team Blowhard is not very good. But they’ll look good against the Browns.
DALLAS COWBOYS at Washington Redskins — At this point, only a fool would pick the Redskins to win anything. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington beat the Cowboys.
DENVER BRONCOS at Houston Texans — I was so happy last week when the Broncos lost. But then the Patriots lost, and it didn’t really matter. And the Broncos will definitely win this week, and their uncharacteristic stumble will fade from our memories forever.
Tennessee Titans at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS — I don’t know why, but I like the Jaguars in this game.
Indianapolis Colts at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS — The Colts have looked pretty mediocre lately, and the run of mediocrity will continue against a strong Chiefs team.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at ST. LOUIS RAMS — The Rams should be able to take care of business at home.
New Orleans Saints at CAROLINA PANTHERS — Should be a great game! I’m going with the Panthers because the Saints aren’t very good on the road.
New York Giants at DETROIT LIONS — The only reason I’m taking the Lions is because they’re playing the Giants. Because they cannot be trusted to beat anyone else.
Arizona Cardinals at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS — I like Arizona, but they don’t have a chance against the mighty Seahawks.
Pittsburgh Steelers at GREEN BAY PACKERS — Green Bay picked up an impressive win last week, and they’ll continue their late season playoff push against a fatally flawed Steelers team.
Oakland Raiders at SAN DIEGO CHARGERS — The Chargers picked up an impressive win last week, and they’ll continue their late season playoff push against a fatally flawed Raiders team.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at Baltimore Ravens — I’m picking the Patriots because I always pick them. But cooler heads are advised to go with the Ravens.
Chicago Bears at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES — The Eagles have won five of their last eight, and will make it six of nine against the Bears.
Atlanta Falcons at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS — The Falcons are one of the biggest disappointments of the season, and they stand no chance against a 49ers team that’s looked pretty strong of late, winning four in a row.
Last week’s results:
Me: 8-8 Overall: 140-83
My obnoxious friend: 10-6 Overall 145-78
