Rotterdam police probe rash of burglaries in Hamburg Street area
ROTTERDAM Rotterdam police are investigating a string of burglaries near where Hamburg Street crosses Chrisler Avenue.
At least nine break-ins have occurred in that area in the past month, police said, and the burglar is targeting jewelry, laptops, small electronics and cash.
Each of the break-ins has happened in the evening hours while the homes were unoccupied. The suspect gained entry in each by forcing his way through a rear door or window.
In three of the burglaries, flat-screen televisions were intentionally damaged but not stolen, police said. In those cases, the burglar either scratched the screen or broke it with a blunt object.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rotterdam police detectives at 355-7397. Police also asked that residents report suspicious activity to police.
