I-890 paving work under way at night
SCHENECTADY Nighttime paving on Interstate 890 has begun, state Department of Transportation officials said Monday.
The paving is to run from the Thruway at Exit 25 to West Campbell Road and is to continue until the fall.
During the project, one or two lanes will be closed on portions of I-890 between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weeknights.
As paving moves along, various entrance and exit ramps will be closed overnight until early June. Detour routes will be posted at the ramps during the closures.
This week, the on- and off-ramps for westbound I-890 to Curry Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. The on- and off-ramps for westbound I-890 to Highbridge Road will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday.
No ramp closures will occur on Memorial Day, but they are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, May 28, for the on- and off-ramps between westbound 890 and the Route 7 Crosstown Connection.
The work schedule is weather-dependent.
