Schoharie pair accused of burglarizing assemblyman's home
SCHOHARIE State police say two men burglarized two homes in the Schoharie area, including one belonging to a state assemblyman.
Troopers began their investigation April 27, after a burglary was reported at a home in the town of Schoharie. Two days later, another burglary was reported in the village of Schoharie at the home of Assemblyman Peter Lopez, R-Schoharie. Authorities say both homes were randomly selected and broken into during the day and that the alleged burglars did not know the second home belonged to Lopez.
Much of the property stolen was cash and jewelry, some of which has been recovered, troopers said.
Connor Casabonne and Bryan Lemoine, both 20 and both of Main Street in Schoharie, were each charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and arraigned in Schoharie Town Court. Casabonne was sent to the Schoharie County jail on $20,000 bail and Lemoine on $5,000 bail.
