Man accused of fourth bank heist
SARATOGA SPRINGS A 26-year-old Saratoga Springs man, who was already in custody for allegedly robbing banks in Schenectady and Rotterdam, was arrested and arraigned on a first-degree robbery charge this week for allegedly robbing a Saratoga Springs bank Jan. 28.
City police also arrested Jahmar R. Daniels of Regent Street on a charge of grand larceny Tuesday.
He was identified as a person of interest by Saratoga Springs police investigators more than a month ago. He was already on parole for bank robbery and was known to frequent the businesses in the Congress Street Plaza, where the Trustco branch that was robbed is located, city police said in a statement.
Saratoga Springs police started working closely with the FBI and Rotterdam Police Department, which were investigating bank robberies with a similar suspect description.
Daniels was apprehended by Rotterdam police just a short time after he had allegedly robbed a Trustco Bank in Schenectady.
Since that time, Daniels has been charged with two bank robberies in Rotterdam and one in Schenectady. Search warrants were obtained for locations in Rotterdam and Saratoga Springs where Daniels was known to stay and evidence relevant to the bank robberies was obtained, police said.
