Saratoga Springs Library budget has no tax increase
SARATOGA SPRINGS The proposed 2013-14 budget for Saratoga Springs Public Library remains at $5.5 million and does not include an increase in the tax levy.
Residents of the Saratoga Springs City School District will vote on the new library budget from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 18 in the library at 49 Henry St. in downtown Saratoga Springs. Voters will also elect a library trustee that day.
Saratoga Springs City School District residents who are registered voters are eligible to vote. A public hearing on the proposed budget and an opportunity to meet the two trustee candidates will be held at 7 p.m. April 15 in the library’s H. Dutcher Community Room.
Voters will be asked to approve a tax levy of $4,954,215 for 2013-2014, which is the same amount approved for the 2012-13 fiscal year, with no increase in total expenditures.
A five-member board of trustees elected by district residents governs the library. There is one trustee vacancy because trustee Cheryl Gold’s term expires July 31. Gold and Dorothy “Dede” Hill, both of Saratoga Springs, are running to fill that seat.
