Widower of Mayfield woman found dead indicted
JOHNSTOWN The husband of a woman found dead beside a dead-end road last summer is facing a misdemeanor assault charge in an indictment handed up Monday in Fulton County Court.
Brent Scott Alling Sr., 43, is charged in the indictment with third-degree assault, driving while intoxicated, failure to signal and no seatbelt, according to Fulton County District Attorney Louise Sira.
Kathryn M. Jackson was 54 when town employees discovered her naked body alongside Tyrrell Road on June 4, 2012.
Not long afterward, Alling, who lived in a home on Delaney Road with Jackson, was charged with DWI and the traffic infractions.
Sira said an autopsy on Jackson was inconclusive and pathologists were unable to determine a cause of death.
The woman was suffering from severe health problems, Sira said, complicating the autopsy and leaving the precise cause of death a mystery.
But pathologists were able to match a bite mark on Jackson’s forearm with Alling’s teeth — providing sufficient evidence to yield an assault charge.
Sira said members of Jackson’s family are frustrated by the outcome.
Alling is free on bail.
