NISKAYUNA The death of a 62-year-old Niskayuna man remained under investigation Monday as the law firm where he worked and those who knew him mourned his passing.
The body of Michael Wallender was found by police Saturday in a wooded area near the intersection of River and Rosendale roads. He lived about a quarter mile way, according to a White Pages listing. He had been reported missing Friday.
An autopsy was expected through the Schenectady County Medical Examiner’s Office, but Niskayuna Police Chief John Lubrant declined Monday to say whether that had been completed.
He also declined to say whether police suspected foul play.
Wallender was an attorney with the Couch White firm in Albany and a native of Schenectady.
“He was a gifted, creative and hard-working lawyer and litigator whose ability to unravel complex legal issues gained a wide following among major business clients throughout the Capital Region and beyond,” the firm said in a statement.
He also practiced labor and employment law.
