Woman ticketed in fatal accident in Albany
ALBANY The driver who struck and killed an Albany woman last week on Central Avenue has been ticketed for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to Albany police.
Corine Edwards, 68, of Albany, did not receive any criminal charges in the accident. The failure to yield violation carries with it three points on a New York state driver’s license, and sometimes, a fine.
Edwards had been driving west on Central Avenue Thursday night when she struck 28-year-old Katherine Parker, who had been crossing at the intersection of Central and King avenues. The Albany woman was transported to Albany Medical Center in critical condition and died the next day.
Edwards was not injured during the accident.
