Woman admits stealing $55K from Albany hair salon
ALBANY Maja Malczewski will face up to six months in jail after admitting she created false reimbursements from the payroll of her family member's hair salon to pay tens of thousands of dollars of credit card debt, according to prosecutors.
The 27-year-old woman admitted to a single count of grand larceny in Albany County Court Thursday. She faces up to six months in county jail and five months probation when sentenced next month.
Between June 2009 and October 2012, Malczewski stole $55,000 from the Ania Hair Salon on Western Avenue in Albany. The business is owned by a member of her family.
In addition to jail, Malczewski is also being required to pay resitution.
