Troy man accused of driving backhoe drunk on Central Avenue
ALBANY A 44-year-old man was arrested Friday night after reportedly driving a backhoe on Central Avenue while drunk.
Albany police said Officer Michael Romano Jr. spotted a large yellow backhoe headed east in the 400 block of Central Avenue about 8:30 p.m. It was violating several vehicle and traffic laws, according to a news release issued today.
Romano pulled over the driver, Jesus Ofarril of Troy, and learned he was intoxicated, with a blood-alcohol content later measured at 0.18 percent. Police believe he had only traveled a short distance before being pulled over.
Ofarril was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Ofarril was arraigned this morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
