Man threatened to kill couple in Gloversville bar robbery: police
GLOVERSVILLE Police allege a Johnstown man threatened to kill a bartender and his lady friend at the Sacandaga Elks Lodge before robbing the establishment early Sunday morning.
Edward C. Jones, 53, of 2018 State Route 67, was charged with third-degree robbery and two counts of grand larceny, all felonies, according to a release from the Gloversville Police Department.
Police allege Jones was a patron at the club on Washington Street Saturday evening and he waited until the bartender and his friend were the only ones left before threatening to kill them if they didn't hand over money from the cash register.
Police allege Jones took an undisclosed amount of cash and the woman's cell phone so she couldn't call police.
Gloversville Police Det. Sgt. Michael Jory said there were no injuries and no indication Jones had a weapon.
Jones was arraigned in Gloversville City Court and sent to the Fulton County Jail without bail.
