Arrest made in fatal Albany stabbing
ALBANY Police on Tuesday arrested the man they say stabbed three women a day earlier, one fatally.
Michael D. Anderson, 29, of Albany, was spotted by a police detective just after 7 p.m. on the fire escape of an apartment on Lark Drive, police said. Once spotted, Anderson fled on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief struggle, said police, who described him as the ex-boyfriend of one of the victims.
Detectives were still conducting their investigation late Tuesday. Formal charges were not available.
Anderson was wanted in the stabbing of three women at 157 Myrtle Ave. on Monday afternoon. Killed was Tonette Thomas, 20. Critically injured were Gwynn Carter, 43, and Shaquasia Thomas, 26. Both were taken from the scene to Albany Medical Center, where they were listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, police said.
All three women lived at the Myrtle Avenue address.
Police identified Anderson as the ex-boyfriend of Shaquasia Thomas.
