The holiday season is a special time for me because of all the ways we celebrate in my community. My hometown is Scotia but I celebrate in Schenectady and Niskayuna.
In Scotia, I like to do Holidays on the Avenue. There, we do lots of things like see Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Gingy the Gingerbread Man. We also see Elvis. We usually get cocoa. There is a fun castle maze.
There are tons of things to do in Schenectady, like the Gazette Holiday Parade. We bring cocoa in our Thermos. The people in the parade throw candy. In our family, we vote for our favorite fire truck. The parade ends with Santa Claus.
In Proctors, they have plays like A Christmas Carol, The Nutcracker and The Melodies of Christmas. At the Schenectady Museum (miSci), there are Christmas trains. There are lots of switches and tracks. At Alco, the Christmas train has lights on every car. They collect food for the hungry. In one of the cars, there is a rock band. They sing Christmas songs.
I celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah so I have one more stop to go. That stop is Niskayuna. There I go to the JCC. They have a big party. You make latkes. Latkes are yummy potato pancakes. We also play and make dreidels. It is a super fun game.
Then we watch a Hanukkah video. We also go to the temple for a Hanukkah celebration. This year, I want to do the Festival of Trees, lunch with Santa and see the Santa Drop at the Schenectady Airport.
As you can see, there are lots of fun things I like to do over the holidays.
