Tree lighting ceremony, Victorian Streetwalk set in Saratoga Springs
SARATOGA SPRINGS The annual Saratoga Springs Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Broadway in front of Putnam Market across from Caroline Street.
The event is presented by the Downtown Business Association. Jeff Clark, Downtown Business Association president, will be the emcee.
The ceremony will begin with singing Girl Scout troops. Mayor Scott Johnson will light the tree at 7:00 p.m.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by horse-drawn carriage at about 7 p.m. to ring in the official start of the holiday season. Santa and Clara Claus will visit with children and pass out candy canes. Music will be provided.
Free hot chocolate and cookies will be served to the crowds at the cottage.
The following night, the 26th annual Victorian Streetwalk will be held in Saratoga Springs.
The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and features music, magic, a gingerbread house display, a festival of trees, choral groups, Victorian costumes, Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer and many venues with entertainment. It is all free and open to the public.
