Police stop robbery at RPI frat house
TROY Alert police officers thwarted a would-be robber Saturday afternoon at an RPI fraternity house.
Officers Steven Barker and Marty Furciniti responded to a burglar alarm at the Phi Lambda Phi, 300 Pawling Ave. On the porch was Robert A. Fogarty, 42, holding an Xbox and controller he had allegedly stolen from the residence.
Police said Fogarty had gained access by climbing through a window.
According to police, Fogarty, who is homeless, threw the Xbox under a vehicle parked out front and ran north on Pawling Avenue. He was caught and taken into custody.
Fogarty, who police say was on parole for burglary, was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and false personation.
