NISKAYUNA — Niskayuna police are investigating a series of thefts reported throughout the town, both from vehicles and properties.

The reports have come in over the past month related to unlocked cars. In one case, cars inside an open garage were also gone through, police said.

Items taken from the cars include loose change, cash, credit cards and other valuables, police said.

They are also investigating reports of stolen bicycles.

Police believe the crimes are being committed in the early morning or overnight hours. Video from residents is a part of the investigation, police said.

“We cannot encourage residents strongly enough to secure their cars and property,” police said in a release. “Valuables should be removed from cars or hidden out of sight. People should also turn on outside lights.”

Police also asked residents to call 911 if they see something suspicious or out of place.
