Mohawk Ambulance grows again
Mohawk Ambulance Service has hired 21 new employees as its business continues to grow each year.
The Schenectady-based ambulance company hired five new drivers for its alternative transportation services department and 16 emergency medical technicians. The additions continue job growth from earlier this year, when the company hired 13 men and women in the spring, putting total employment at nearly 280.
One big push of health care reform has been to keep people out of hospitals and ambulances. But Vice President of Operations Rich Brandt says Mohawk Ambulance has seen a growing number of patients each year, likely due to an aging population.
The privately owned business serves Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties.
