Manufacturing business expands to accommodate growth
Custom Manufacturing Solutions will expand its manufacturing and distribution facility at the Schenectady County Business Center, located at 920 Albany St.
Founded in 1997, CMS provides parts and supplies to the power generation industry, freight rail industry and major transit agencies including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and New York City Transit. The company manufactures parts and assemblies and provides parts distribution services to freight and commuter railroads.
“Schenectady County is excited that CMS will expand into additional space at the Business Center,” said County Legislator Marty Finn, chair of the Economic Development Committee, in a news release issued today. "The Business Center was created to help small businesses grow by providing space and technical assistance, and CMS is one more example of the success of this program. We congratulate them on their growth and look forward to continuing to work with them to keep the momentum going and to further expand their presence in Schenectady County.”
CMS currently occupies 4,596 of the 25,000-square-foot county-owned Business Center. It will get an additional 1,000 square feet to handle increased orders and to add two to three full-time employees. Eight companies occupy the center, which is now fully leased.
“We are fortunate that both the rail and energy sectors are expanding," said JP Poulin, of CMS. "This allows us to expand our operation at the Schenectady County Business Center. The Business Center has provided a good place to grow our company.”
