Superior's first acquisition

By Bethany Bump
Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Superior Business Products, an office products supplier in Rotterdam, has made its first-ever acquisition with the year-end purchase of Guilderland-based Yankee Business Solutions.

The merger will add another location with 9,000 square feet of furniture showroom and office space, located at 1 Charles Boulevard in Guilderland, according to a company publication announcing the news. Superior currently operates out of a 10,000-square-foot office and warehouse at 3108 Carman Road, just down the road from the Route 7 traffic circle.

Staff at Yankee will join Superior, including president and owner Jack Shellard, who is now listed as furniture manager on the Superior website.

"We here at Superior are very excited for these new changes as we venture into 2013," the announcement ended.

Superior Business Products offers office supplies, furniture and even snacks, coffee, soda and water that it buys from some of the nation's biggest office chains. The company also ships and special orders upholsteries, and has a delivery team that assembles and installs anything from a single piece of furniture to large office building installations.

Founded in 2003, Yankee Business Solutions offers new and used furniture that can be used in hospitality, education and health care settings. It works with more than 40 different furniture manufacturers, and helps customers through consultation, design, delivery and installation.
