Credit union makes financial literacy funny
CAP COM Federal Credit Union wants young adults to have fun while learning how to manage money. So the Capital Region chain of credit unions has hired a comedian and financial blogger to lead a free workshop Tuesday that will do just that.
Colin Ryan, a comedian, writer and speaker based in Vermont, will lead a workshop titled, "Dollars and Sense: Money Management Workshop," on Tuesday from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Albany Marriott. A separate workshop for parents on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid forms will be held at the same time in a different ballroom.
"Young people need to learn the basics of money management and most parents need help building a smart plan to pay for college," said Kim Donah, a certified college planning specialist at CAP COM's College Bound Program. "This special night of workshops, prizes and entertainment will meet everyone's needs."
The workshop is designed for students ages 15 through 25 who want to learn to budget and plan their finances. Students and parents interested in attending should sign up online at www.capcomfcu.org or contact the workshop group at workshops@capcomfcu.org.
