A new CDPHP-Price Chopper partnership

Price Chopper and CDPHP have partnered to place health screening kiosks in six area Price Choppers, including stores in Schenectady, Malta and Johnstown.

The partnership between the Schenectady-based supermarket chain and the Albany-based health plan will offer a wide array of health services inside Price Chopper pharmacies. On Thursday, CDPHP president and CEO John Bennett and Price Chopper president and CEO Jerry Golub announced the project at a Price Chopper in the Albany County hamlet of Glenmont.

The kiosks will provide free blood pressure, weight, heart rate, blood oxygen and temperature readings. Patients can also create a "personal health assessment" that can be printed at the kiosk or at

“These health stations will provide our members unique access to benefits and services at a time and place that’s convenient for them,” said Bennett in a news release issued Thursday. “As we enter a new era in health care, we are thrilled to partner with Price Chopper Supermarkets, an organization that shares our commitment to community wellness.”

The kiosks, or health stations, are located at Price Choppers in Bethlehem, Schenectady (Altamont Avenue), Glenmont, Malta, Johnstown and Poughkeepsie.

“The Affordable Care Act emphasizes the need for preventive and efficient health care,” said Kathy Bryant, Price Chopper’s vice president of pharmacy. "Pharmacies can play an integral role by providing greater access to screenings and valuable health services. Price Chopper is in a unique position to offer access and advocate wellness programs in our communities. The collaboration among our pharmacists, dietitians, CDPHP and innovative technology offered at the health stations offers an opportunity for better patient health care outcomes."

CDPHP and Price Chopper Pharmacy have partnered on other health initiatives, including medication therapy management, medical nutrition therapy and immunization services.
