Albany ad agency to close publishing operation

A Texas-based advertising agency plans to lay off 37 local employees when it shutters its Albany publishing operations this summer, according to a notice filed Tuesday with the state Department of Labor.

SuperMedia LLC, an advertising agency that markets for small and medium-sized business through print, online, mobile and social media, has a publishing operations unit at 16 Corporate Woods Boulevard, an Albany office building that houses law and tech firms.

A longer post on the layoffs can be found HERE.

SuperMedia has had some presence in the Capital Region since at least 1984, when it existed as a phone company in North Greenbush, said company spokesman Andy Shane. Over the years, the company changed hands and underwent mergers until 2006, when it spun off from Verizon and formed SuperMedia LLC. Five years later, it moved into office space on Corporate Woods Boulevard.
