Saratoga Day 34, 8/27

By Bill Cain
Monday, August 27, 2012

Hall of Fame trainer Allen Jerkens was surprised by his 5-year-old New York-bred Go Unbridled. She finished strong to take the $100,000 Saratoga Dew on Monday at Saratoga Race Course, a 1 1/8-mile dirt run for state-bred fillies and mares.

“She didn't gallop out very strong the other day, but the boy said she seems to know where the finish line is,” he said. “I'd never heard that one before, but it'll do. She's been an old pro all her life.”

Opus A led the field most of the way through the race, yielding at the top of the stretch as Great Gracie Dane came around outside of her. Go Unbridled rallied around the pair and kicked free for the win.
