Gattuso new UAlbany coach?

Several media reports, including the Baltimore Sun, have Maryland defensive line coach Greg Gattuso becoming the new University at Albany head football coach, replacing the legendary Bob Ford, who retired last month after 44 years as the Great Danes head coach.

Gattuso, 51, was formerly the head coach at Duquesne for 12 years. He's been an assistant at Maryland for three years and also served as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh for six years.

Several weeks ago, UAlbany sports information officials said that the university would most likely name a new coach some time this month so that the school wouldn't lose any time on the recruiting trail.

If the rumors are true, expect a press conference early next week.
