Golf: A few more events

We're entering the final stretch of the golf season, unfortunately, but there are still a few worthwhile events to consider.

Albany Country Club is holding its third annual Senior-Junior Amateur Four-Ball Scratch tournament Oct. 13-14.

Limited to the first 40 teams, this partners tournament will be cut to the fist 24 teams and ties after the opening round. Teams consist of one senior player 50 years of age and older as of Oct. 13, and one junior player 49 years old and younger. Cost is $250 per team. The opening round will start with a 1 p.m. shotgun. There will be an open bar, food stations and hors d'oeuvres following play. The final round will have 8:15 a.m. tee times.

Call Albany CC at 765-2854 for reservations or more information.

Meanwhile, is sponsoring a Putting Shootout at Orchard Creek on Oct. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit both the area's First Tee program and the Hook a Kid on Golf program.

There are qualifiers going on this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 pm. at Orchard Creek, Van Patten, Saratoga Lake, Burden Lake, Normanside Country Club and Northway 8 Golf Center. The top 10 putters from each location advance to Orchard Creek on Oct. 13.

A $10 donation is all it costs to enter for a chance at earning $50,000.
