John Vaccaro, a former champion and the qualifying medalist, defeated Mike Duncan in the quarterfinals of the Tri-County Golf Association Match Play Championship today at Colonie Golf & Country Club.

Steve Owens of Normanside defeated Dan Russo of Rolling Hills at Antlers, Mike Wheeler defeated Matt Clarke of Country Club of Troy and Steve Quillinan Jr. defeated Jim Mueller of Orchard Creek in the other quarterfinals.

In the senior division, Jack Stopera, John Donovan, Jim Gardy and Chuck Connolly advanced to the semifinals.

The semifinals and finals will be played Sunday.
