It was a good trip for Bob "Goose" Faragon, but his winning ways finally stopped at the USBC Senior Masters Thursday night in Las Vegas.
Faragon was 49th after three days of qualifying, and he lost in the first round of match play, 596-479, to 13th-seeded Don Sylvia of Orlando Fla.
But once in the loser's bracket, Faragon got a second wind. He defeated Don Breihan of Columbia, S.C., 645-612, stopped Ted Staikoff of Black Hawk, S.D., 697-621, and then beat Danny Carbone of Broomfield, Colo., 611-499, before finally losing to Les Shirwindt of Las Vegas, 640-525.
Faragon earned a check for $1,300.
