A small but talented field will trek to Altamont Friday to play in the first Orchard Creek Amateur Championship.

Among the notables competing are two-time Capital Region Amateur Golf Association point champion John Vaccaro of Wolferts Roost Country Club, three-time Troy Invitational titlist Jim Welch of Winding Brook Country Club, two-time Gazette County Amateur winner Bob Cooper, long-hitting Chris Barach of Mohawk Golf Club and recent Eagle Crest Shootout winner Todd Czepiel.

As of this printing, there are 35 players in the field. They will tee off between 10:33 and 11:27 a.m. on both the front and back nines.
