Danes will play Tar Heels, Orange
Monday, August 10, 2009

Wow. This kind of schedule can either make or break a team.

UAlbany's men's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule today, and it's an eye-catcher.

Not only do the Great Danes take on defending national champion North Carolina, but they also play at Syracuse. The Danes will host three sub-regional games of the 2K Sports Classic at SEFCU Arena.

Along with tne annual grudge match against Siena at Times Union Center, the Danes will play Morgan State, American, Central Florida, Florida Atlantic, Penn, Central Connecticut State, Iona, Loyola (Chicago) and Yale.

UAlbany will play six teams that played in last year's NCAA Tournament.

"It's an interesting schedule," said UAlbany head coach Will Brown. "Hopefully, we won't kill ourselves. We were looking for something a little different, and I think we accomplished that."

The Syracuse game will be televised on ESPNU. Other television games will be announced.

The Danes, who advanced to the conference tournament semifinals last season, return a pair of third-team America East Conference players in Tim Ambrose and Will Harris.
