David Harper, former Saratoga County assistant district attorney, announced this afternoon he is dropping out of the race for the Republican nomination in the 20th Congressional District
Retired Col. Chris Gibson from Kinderhook snagged endorsements from the GOP committees in Greenfield, Moreau, Halfmoon, Stillwater and Clifton Park. He also got a thumbs up from the Saratoga County Conservative Party.
Harper announced he is suspending his campaign and endorsing Gibson since Gibson secured over 80 percent of the votes necessary to get endorsed by Harper's home county.
Gibson also got his first county-wide endorsement on Wednesday from Rensselaer County.
Harper's announcement leaves Queensbury Supervisor Dan Stec and Tea Party activist Patrick Ziegler still in the race for the GOP nomination, along with Gibson.
