Soares gets his own union backing
Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 2 has endorsed incumbent P. David Soares in the race for Albany County district attorney.

"David Soares has an exemplary record of fighting for the working class and has taken on prevailing wage as well as unemployment insurance, both bread and butter issues for our members," local union President Bob Mantello said in a statement.

The union made its endorsement based on Soares' "committment to fairness and building our community one family-sustaining job at a time," said Pat Tirino, secretary-treasurer of the local union.

Soares, seeking a second, four-year term, is running against Roger Cusick, a Republican, who is on the Integrity Party line. Cusick was endorsed last week by local units of the Civil Service Employees Association and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
