Does it say something about this great country of ours that every candidate for president in recent time finds it necessary to demand change?
This year Obama wants change, and McCain wants change, and every other candidate who fell by the wayside that I can remember also wanted change.
How come no one ever says, “I think we’re doing pretty good, and I want to keep us on the same track”?
Or, “Vote for me, and I’ll make sure nothing changes.”
How come we seem to be so dissatisfied with things as they are and especially with our government as it is?
Even McCain, who has spent 25 years in Congress, is of the same party as the current president and has endorsed all of the current president’s major policies, most especially the war in Iraq, demands change, as if he just arrived in town.
It goes beyond ideology too. Conservatives want change as fervently as liberals do. I don’t get it.
On a personal note: I will be on vacation for a few days and will not be writing my regular column for the Gazette. I will look at this blog from time to time to keep up with the calumny and contumely, but probably will not be adding to it.
