It’s true, ladies and gentlemen, I took some photographs on my recent trip to Istanbul, Turkey, having recently acquired a modest little point-and-shoot camera, and as a no-cost addition to this blog I have posted a selection of them so that you, the reader, can view them by clicking here.
They don’t constitute a travelogue, since when I took them I had no idea of posting them and so did not aim for a comprehensiveness – some scenic views from afar, some close-ups, some modern office buildings, some picturesque old markets. I shot what caught my eye, and this tended to be the old, the funky, the exotic, the picturesque. I came back with a lot of pictures of old men hunched in prayer before the tiled walls of mosques, none of traffic jams or apartment developments. If you want to see Istanbul in all its variety, you will have to look elsewere, or go there yourself. I make no apologies.
