The state Board of Elections staff says more than half of Libertarian Eric Sundwall's petitions are invalid.
If the election board's commission agrees when it meets Wednesday, Sundwall, a third-party candidate for the open Congressional seat, will be off the ballot.
Elections staffers reviewed Sundwall's petition signatures and objections filed against them last week, and decided Monday that 3,800 of the 6,730 signatures did not meet state election law criteria, said John Conklin, spokesman for the state Board of Elections.
On Wednesday, the commission could either uphold that decision, overrule it or split its vote.

Sundwall, of Columbia County, is the state Libertarian chairman and an information technology consultant.
