Republican James Tedisco today called for the resignation of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in connection with the American International Group bonus scandal.
Tedisco, R-Glenville, also asked his opponent to join him in calling for Geithner's resignation -- something Democrat Scott Murphy has not done yet.
"In these challenging times, our country can ill-afford to have a treasury secretary who does not command the full confidence and trust of the American people," Tedisco said.
"The American people are mad as hell over the way AIG, Wall Street and Washington have broken their promises and betrayed their trust."
Tedisco also said he supports a proposal in Congress to take back 90 percent of the $165 million taxpayer-funded bonuses, and asked Murphy to join him in support of that initiative.
Murphy has not yet responded to either request.
