Free SUNY tuition in exchange for community service?
An article in Saturday's Daily Gazette reports on a proposal by Rotterdam Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara for the state to provide free college tuition at SUNY schools for instate residents who agree to perform 250 hours of community service a year for five years.
The proposal could cost state taxpayers $1.4 billion a year, but we'll get all that community service in return.
What do you think? Great idea? Bad idea?
