School baseball: Musk hurls gem
Schalmont senior Greg Musk authored his second career no-hitter after a near miss a week ago in 7-0 Colonial Council win over Cohoes Monday.
Musk struck out 14, walked four and hit a batter in his no-hitter, the second for a Schalmont hurler against Cohoes. The first came back in 1996 when Corey Osinski blanked the Tigers.
Musk’s first scholastic no-hitter came in the Section II Class B semifinals last season when the lefty shut down top-seeded Chatham in a 6-0 victory. The Sabres went on to capture the Class B championship and won their first regional game in program history.
Musk had a no-hitter going last week against Voorheesville, and Alex Minnick broke it up with a one-out single in the seventh inning. Musk fanned 13 in a one-hit 10-0 win.
When Schalmont opened its season in early April, Musk fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 win against Watervliet. C.J. Gaudette had the lone Watervliet hit in third inning, a single. That win was the 300th for Schalmont coach Bob Anderson.
