Hoosic Valley last made the final four in 2005 and lost in the semifinal round, 55-33, to Faith Heritage.

Hoosic Valley earned a return trip by beating Seton Catholic last Saturday, 67-47, when John Rooney collected 24 points and nine rebounds, Mike Pierre totaled 19 points and nine boards, and J.T. Sawyer chipped in with 17 points. Each of those Indians also had three steals in a strong defensive effort by the Indians.

Waterville made it to the final four for the first time by beating Elmira Notre Dame, 61-55. Zach Sawyer scored six of his team-high 24 points down the stretch, and Hunter Williams fired in 15.

In the other regional finals, Middle College beat Clyde-Savannah, 62-54, and Friends beat Haldane, 71-49.

Middle College was the 2012 state runner-up and the 2010 champion. Friends Academy was the 2011 state champion and the 2007 second-place team.

Hoosic Valley is ranked No. 1 by the state sportswriters. Middle College is No. 2, Waterville is No. 3 and Friends Academy is No. 4.
