Green Tech will make its first state final four basketball appearance Saturday at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Green Tech (17-5) takes on Brentwood (Section XI, 22-2) in a Class AA semifinal game at 2:15, following the 12:30 matchup between Jamestown (Section VI, 18-4) and Union-Endicott (Section IV, 17-4). Sunday’s championship tilt will go off at 3:15.

Green Tech claimed its first Section II title by beating Guilderland behind Jamil Hood Jr.’s 27 points, 65-56, and the Eagles added to their breakthrough fourth varsity season by knocking off Utica Proctor in the regionals, 53-43.

Green Tech built a 30-13 halftime lead against Proctor and held on after the Utica squad clawed within 42-40 in the fourth quarter.

Hood Jr. had 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the victory. The senior guard’s late three-point play gave Green Tech a 49-43 lead. Ramion Burt had 10 points and nine rebounds, Anquan McLean added nine points, and Najee Ward contributed eight points. Ward’s basket began the Eagles push after Proctor crept within two.

Green Tech has won six straight games, and is ranked No. 11 in the state. Brentwood is ranked No. 8, Union-Endicott is No. 12 and Jamestown is No. 9. Green Tech’s resume includes a win over Class A final four participant Rochester East.

Brentwood advanced to the final four by beating Farmingdale for the overall Long Island championship, 61-41. Jamel Allen had 16 points and 11 rebounds in the win, which included a 22-7 fourth-quarter run by Farmingdale.

In other Class AA regional finals, Union-Endicott beat Mount Vernon in overtime, 69-66, and Jamestown topped Greece-Athens, 61-52.

Scotia-Glenville (23-0, Class A) and Hoosic Valley (20-3, Class C) will also see state final four action this weekend.
