School hoop: Senior games

Nick Marini of Christian Brothers Academy scored all 13 of his points in the first half, and Keishaun Wheelings of Schenectady delivered 12 as the Big 10 knocked off the Suburban Council, 89-84, in an Exceptional Senior basketball game Tuesday night at Niskayuna High School.

Justice Walston (Troy), Kevin Callender (Albany) and JaQuan Jones (Bishop Maginn) added 11 points apiece for the Big 10.

The Suburban Council got 10 points from Elijah Lott (Columbia), Noah Arciero (Saratoga Springs), Jake Hicks (Shenendehowa), Aaron Gordon (Niskayuna) and Matt Cerutti (Guilderland).

In the girls’ game, Nicole Riddick of Colonie hit for 18 points and Jenni Barra of Shaker clicked for 13 to lift the Suburban Council past the Big 10, 72-51.

Riddick helped the Suburban Council grab a 19-12 first-quarter lead by scoring nine of those points.

Merrick Rowland (Shaker) and Nia Moore (Columbia) had 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Suburban Council. Dahnasia Williams (Albany) paced the Big 10 with 19, and Mary Pattison (Troy) scored 15, all on threes.
