With a roster full of Section II graduates, the Schenectady County Community College women’s basketball team rallied for a 67-59 homecourt win over North Country Saturday and tied the program record with its 17th victory.

Schenectady trailed by 11 with 11 minutes left, and Catholic Central graduate Ashley Creighton sparked the Royals’ comeback with a pair of three-point baskets.

Creighton was one of three Royals to finish with a double-double, collecting 17 points and 12 rebounds. Mohonasen product Sam Hall had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Amsterdam graduate Monique Pucci totaled 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals.

Hall scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half, and was 8-for-9 shooting from the field.

Schenectady trailed at the half, 34-26.

Schenectady is 17-5 overall, and 15-5 in Region III. The Royals play Sunday at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

STOPERA SETS RECORD

Scotia-Glenville graduate Jeff Stopera set a Sage men's basketball one-game record with 32 points in Saturday's 83-79 loss to Farmingdale State College.

Matt Farbotko was the Sage record-holder with 28 points in 2012 against RPI.

Stopera played all 40 minutes, and was 9-for-14 from the field, 5-for-8 from three-point territory, and 9-for-9 from the line. The graduate student also had 10 assists.
