School baseball: Bailey hurls no-hitter

Sophomore Kyle Bailey added his name to the list of no-hit pitchers from Saratoga Central Catholic Thursday when he blanked Middleburgh in a 20-0, five-inning Western Athletic Conference victory.

Bailey struck out seven and walked two in his first varsity start, and helped the Saints improve their league mark to 4-0.

Here’s a look at some of the more recent no-hitters authored by Saratoga Catholic hurlers.

2013 (4-26-13): Jesse Winters, Saratoga Catholic 13-0 win vs. Duanesburg; 15 strikeouts, 2 walks.

2012 (4-30-12): Eric Beer, Saratoga Catholic 18-0 win vs. Canajoharie; 7 strikeouts, 3 walks; first varsity start.

2011 (4-18-11): Billy McDonough, Saratoga Catholic 22-0 win vs. Sharon Springs; 20 strikeouts, 0 walks; 64 strikes on 81 pitches; perfect game.

2009 (4-7-09): Dylan Anderson, Christian Garcia (6), Saratoga Catholic 29-1 win vs. Sharon Springs; 10 strikeouts combined.

2009 (4-22-09): Jeremy Furey. Saratoga Catholic 12-0 win vs. Mayfield; 5 strikeouts, 4 walks.

2009 (5-18-09): Jeremy Furey, Saratoga Catholic 13-0 win vs. St. Johnsville; 13 strikeouts, 3 walks.

2000 (4-24-2000): Tim Stauffer, Saratoga Catholic 7-0 win vs. St. Johnsville; 18 strikeouts, 0 walks; 81 pitches and 9 balls.

2000 (4-28-2000): Tim Stauffer, Saratoga Catholic 17-0 win vs. Mayfield; 17 strikeouts, 1 walk, 1 HBP.
