School track: Niskayuna hosting two events
Niskayuna High School will host its fifth annual Medley Relay Challenge Friday and its seventh annual Warrior Track Classic Saturday.
The medley relay, Section II’s first invitation of the season, will start at 4:15 and include nine local teams as well as New Rochelle of Section I. The event list will include the distance medley, 800 sprint medley, 1,600 sprint medley, shuttle hurdle relay and the rarely run Swedich relay (100, 200, 300, 400).
The Warriors Track Classic begins at 9:15 in the morning and track finals are expected to start around 11:30. The event will serve as a Coaches vs. Cancer fundraider.
Seventeen schools are slated to participate including out-of-area squads New Rochelle, Hartford of Section III, Saranac of Section VII and Hampden Charter of Massachusetts.
Kevin Ryder was not reported in the Colonie scoring stats after the Garnet Raiders defeated Guilderland Tuesday, 12-10, in a boys' lacrosse game.
Ryder scored two goals.

Several Section II lacrosse players put up big numbers Tuesday. Austin Seymour of Maple Hill had four goals and six assists in an 11-3 win over Voorheesville. Matt Balter of Albany Academy had eight goals and an assist in a 20-7 win over Glens Falls. Kyle Marr of Shenendehowa had three goals and six assists in a 14-6 win over Saratoga Springs. Kaylee Rickert of Bethlehem had seven goalsand one assist in an 18-5 win over Averill Park.
In the Gazette All-Area boys' basketball team story that ran Tuesday, I had Catholic Central winning its last Big 10 championship in 1983. Before this season, the Crusaders won their last Big 10 title in 1982.
