School tennis: Standouts join for win
Schenectady High School’s top swimmer and its most consistent basketball forward teammed up for a doubles win Thursday to help the Patriots tennis team beat Scotia-Glenville, 5-4, in a non-league match.
Calvin Cleworth, a Section II swimming all-star and state meet participant, and Keishaun Wheelings, who made the Big 10 second team for his scoring and rebounding on the court, joined to beat Taha Ahmed and Sean O’Connor, 6-0, 6-3, as Schenectady’s No. 1 doubles tandem.
Alex Sausville got a win for Scotia-Glenville at No. 2 singles. Sausville played a key role for the Tartans 27-0 state champion basketball team.
Josh Sagaille (No. 1), Aaron Keegan (No. 3) and Ignacio Berganza (No. 6) picked up singles wins for Schenectady.
