School notes: Rams tennis champs

The Amsterdam High School girls’ tennis team wrapped up its 18th consecutive undefeated Big 10 season Tuesday with a 9-0 triumph over Albany.

Amsterdam has won 180 straight league matches including its 10-0 mark this season. The Rams, who have no seniors and four eighth-graders, are 14-2 overall.

Audrey Flint, Ella Dybas, Arizona Santiago, Caitlin Gannon, Gabby DiSalvi and Tessa Filiberto picked up singles wins for Amsterdam. Prabha Singh and Molly Monge, Madison Janetsky and Gianna Quatrini, and Brooke Doda and Amber Richardson prevailed in doubles competition.


Kyle Gronostaj of Columbia ran a record 16:05.13 over Niskayuna’s 5,000-meter course Tuesday in a Suburban Council meet that also included Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.

Conor McDonough of Niskayuna placed second in 16:43.53.

R.J. Sniffen of Shaker had held the Niskayuna course record with a 16:33.
