Wednesday, November 6, 2013

It will be Shenendehowa and Baldwinsville for a fourth consecutive time in girls’ regional volleyball competition after the Bees won the Section III Class AA title Wednesday night.

Baldwinsville completed a 16-0 sweep through Section III opponents with its 25-15, 25-15, 25-21 victory over West Genesee in which Madison Whitney delivered 16 kills. The Bees claimed their six Section III title in a row.

Shenendehowa beat Saratoga Springs in four sets Saturday for its fourth consecutive Section II large-school title.

Baldwinsville defeated Shenendehowa in regional play in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and the rematch is Saturday at noon at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake will go after its 12th straight regional championship when it takes on Oswego of Section III in a Class A match Saturday at 2 at C-NS.

Burnt Hills beat Queensbury in three sets and Oswego beat Fulton in three sets to set up the regional rematch. Burnt Hills beat Oswego in last year’s regional as a stepping stone toward its second straight and fifth overall state championship.

Section II champs Johnstown (Class B), Voorheesville (Class C) and Waterford-Halfmoon (Class D) will see regional action Saturday at Gloversville High School.
