School Notes: Prendergast wins fastest shot

Niskayuna High School midfielder John Prendergast scored a goal in the Class of 15 all-star game, and also won the fastest shot competition in his age group, at the recent Maverik Showtime national recruiting camp for underclassmen at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Conn.

Prendergast scored a goal for Team Cascade in the camp-ending all-star game, in a 14-12 loss to Team Maverik.

Prendergast, a Duke University commit, hit 100 miles per hour on one of his two attempts from 20 yards out to place first in the fastest shot event. The shot competition came during halftime of the all-star game.

Prendergast had a solid sophomore season for the 21-1 state semifinalist Silver Warriors with 16 goals and seven assists. His 23 points ranked sixth on the team, and he earned second-team Suburban Council all-star honors.

The rising midfielder scored the clinching goal with just over two minutes left when Niskayuna beat Yorktown, 13-11, in a regional semifinal game at the University at Albany.
